So, static is over and Grant expects 'major changes in the ranking'. - Well, I haven't been counting points, but it was a very interesting day. Very few red cards, no yellow as far as I am aware and some surprising performances and outcomes.
Hat Yai to Kangar

We made it to Malaysia without any trouble at all. We do have slightly tender bottoms but all in all we are in good shape.
We listened to everyone's concerns about the instability of the South Western Provinces of Thailand and so instead opted for a nice relaxed two day stay in Hat Yai making the most of our time left in Thailand before leaving through the Padang Besar border. I was very sorry for leaving Thailand even though we will be back before long, I will miss the food and people and I really do hope that they will find a political peace soon.
Koh Lanta to Songkhla

Day 1
We managed to spend our last few days in Koh Lanta with our friend Annie at her 'Banana Garden Home'. We also ended up meeting our friends Richie and Svenja who we worked with in Dahab. They had been travelling around N.Z and Australia and now Asia so we told them that they just had to drop in when we found out that they were staying in Phuket.
Roy Katong

On our day off, two days ago we went out cycling south to explore the island a bit, ending up at a beautiful waterfall, well into the jungle on the south end of Ko Lanta. The walk up a little stream took us through some beautiful rain forest, as it should look like. Huge, towering trees, plants with leaves bigger than both of us together and the sounds of a million living things hidden somewhere behind a thick curtain of lush green. The shower in the pool of the waterfall was then most welcome after the cycling and trekking through the jungle on a hot tropical day.
September 2nd this year was Roy Katong which is a festivity in which Lanterns are sent flying into the sky like small hot air balloons made of rice paper and small floats made from banana leaves with candles and incense on them are set out into the sea to carry one's hopes and wishes for the future.
Arriving on Ko Lanta and getting wet

The last leg of our journey from Krung Thep (as they call Bangkok here) is over and led us straight into a bit of an odyssey, finding long-term accommodation. It's not an issue to find a nice and cheap place to stay here at any time, but when you want to stay longer and your resources are limited, then finding something decent might turn out to be a bit more difficult.
But more of that later. How did we get there in the first place?
