Day three of Triple depth and most athletes were looking tired and this being one of the most intensive disciplines, the constant weight no fins (CNF).

There were six new national records set, Agata did a lovely dive down to 36m to collect a NR for Poland, a good end to her first ever competition. Wendy did what looked like the most relaxed and effortless dive she has ever performed, you know she is one those rare people that make it all look so easy. She came up with the tag from 45m and so a NR for Holland. Jarmila set a NR for Czech Republic 52m, Jana from Canada set a NR of 53m but had awful lot of blood from her nose to show for it.

Flavia had a black out on the last few metres of her dive, later she told me she was exhausted and that she a nice little dream whilst blacked out which may explain why she came up with a smile and that I did not realise that she had indeed blacked out.

The mens CNF was interesting with both Rob (US) and Alexey (RUS) holding onto the line whilst duck diving landing them a yellow card, though they both brought up their tags and displayed very good swimming techniques. Gordon from Serbia did a nice dive, came up with no tag and proceeded to tell the judge this after removing his mask and before finishing his surface protocol. Sara Campbell, who has been coaching him, was later overheard telling him that she would go over the rules of competition with him again. I am sure that this is a lesson he will not forget too soon.

Our hats go off to Karsten from Germany though. He managed to nearly give himself a packing blackout whilst descending the first few metres and had the sense to turn at 17m before he got into trouble. He is a very humble and experienced athlete and was later recognised at the closing ceremony for his coaching efforts.

Matt from Poland gave an outstanding performance and netted his third NR this competition with a good clean dive down to 70m. This is a young freediver with so much potential, watch him closely.

The competition was very good to watch and both Richard and I would like to say big 'well done' to all those that took part.
