We freedive offer courses for the absolute beginner through to specialised and personalised training for world-class divers. Our courses are conducted to fully comply with the standards of  the International Association for the Development of Apnea, AIDA or the Apnea Academy, but You may well find some more in our courses than these agencies deem enough.

AIDA Courses

AIDA *

The AIDA * course takes place over one day and is for the complete beginner, for anyone who wishes to learn the very basics. It is aimed to develop basic freediving skills, knowledge and safety procedures,  giving you an insight into the fascinating world of freediving. Taking the AIDA * will make you a more relaxed snorkeler and might just make your SCUBA dives a little bit longer and more enjoyable.

AIDA **

The AIDA ** is a foundation course and takes place over 2½ days. It is designed to be a freediving beginners course for students who are already confident and happy in the water. This course develops the student's knowledge, skills and safety as well as introducing the sport of freediving with some of the freediving disciplines: static apnea (STA), dynamic apnea (DYN), free immersion (FIM) and constant weight (CWT).

AIDA ***

The AIDA *** is a more advanced course run over three days and builds on the skills learnt from the **. The course is designed to develop new skills and greater knowledge going into some more depth and introducing the mammalian dive response, the effects of increasing and decreasing pressure and how to minimize any incurring risks. More safety procedures, training and relaxation techniques and new techniques for freediving are trained, such as free falling and training tables.

AIDA ****

The AIDA ****, also known as the Master Freediver is an expert course. It builds on the skills learnt in the *** course. The **** introduces expert knowledge, advanced techniques that are often used for competitive freediving, but also in education. A certified AIDA **** freediver is not only considered a master freediver, but may also act as assistant instructor in AIDA courses.

AIDA Competition Freediver

The Competition Freediver course can be taken after achieving the AIDA ** qualification. This one day course is for those who got the bug and want to test their skills in national or international competitions. While getting some more training with our experienced instructors, you will be trained by an AIDA judge for the perfect knowledge and compliance with the AIDA competition rules and we will also open our box of tips and tricks that make life in competitions easier. AIDA Competition Safety Freediver and AIDA Competition Deep Safety Freediver

The one day Safety Freediver course prepares AIDA ** and above qualified freedivers for the safety procedures and rules in competitions, so you can actively participate as a safety diver in national and international competitions.

AIDA Monofin Freediver

The Monofin freediver course is for AIDA ** and above qualified freedivers to gain knowldge of the technique and skills involved with using a monofin. Students learn to use good technique through development of a training programme and exercises. This is a one day course.

Apnea Academy Level 1-3 Freediver courses

The level 1 freediver is an intensive week of education and training, on dry land and in the sea - and it just starts from there. More comprehensive, more work, and a brilliant experience altogether.  Available for two or more students.
